Privacy Policy
Effective date: 21 October 2026
Fruggy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what the Fruggy app (package grocery.shopping.planner) and this website collect, why, and who receives it.
Summary
- No accounts and no sign-up. You never give us your name, email, or phone number to use the app.
- Your shopping lists, budgets, and settings stay on your phone.
- The app sends anonymous usage events and crash reports to our analytics and error-monitoring services.
- If you share a list, a copy is stored on our server so the link works.
- We do not sell your data.
Information We Collect
Data stored on your device
Your lists, items, quantities, notes, budgets, reminders, and settings are saved in a local database on your phone. They are not sent to us unless you share a list (see below).
Usage events (PostHog)
The app records anonymous usage events, such as when a list is created, an item is checked off, a budget is set or exceeded, a list is completed, and whether a suggested cheaper product is shown, accepted, or dismissed. Events include internal list and item IDs, not names, and a random identifier assigned to your install. They are used to understand which features help people and to improve the app.
Crash and performance data (Sentry)
When the app crashes or slows down, it sends a crash report to Sentry. This includes the error, the app version, device model, Android version, and timing information for screens and actions (performance tracing). Reports may include a device identifier assigned by Sentry, but they are not used to identify you personally.
Shared lists (our server, Supabase)
If you tap Share to create a shared list, the list name, items, and budget are uploaded to our database hosted by Supabase, and you receive a link with a secret token. Anyone with the link can view and edit that list. The app does not attach your name or any account to it. To have a shared list removed, email us with the link and we will delete it.
Product catalogue
The app downloads product and price data from our database. These requests contain no personal information.
Sharing with other apps
When you use the share button to send a list through WhatsApp, SMS, or another app, the list is handed to the app you choose. We do not see where it goes.
The app does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, or microphone. Notifications, such as shopping reminders, are scheduled and shown on your device.
How We Use Information
- To monitor app health and fix bugs and crashes
- To understand which features people use and to improve the app
- To run shared lists, when you create one
- To respond to your questions and support requests
- To comply with legal obligations
Who Receives Data
- PostHog receives the usage events described above.
- Sentry receives crash and performance reports.
- Supabase hosts our database. It stores shared lists and serves the product catalogue.
- Google Play distributes the app and is governed by its own privacy policy.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
How Long We Keep Data
- Data on your device stays there until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
- Usage and crash data is kept by PostHog and Sentry under their retention settings.
- Shared lists are kept until you ask us to delete them.
Your Choices and Data Deletion
- On your device: clear the app's data in Android Settings, or uninstall the app.
- Shared lists: email us with the link and we will delete the list.
- Usage and crash data: email us with your request. Because the data is anonymous, we may not be able to find records that belong to you.
- Notifications: turn them off in Android Settings for the Fruggy app.
Accounts
Fruggy does not allow users to create accounts. There is no login, so there is no account data to delete. Shared lists use a link token rather than an account.
Website
This website does not set cookies or run advertising trackers. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of the request. The website uses Google Analytics on production builds. Google receives page views, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
Children's Privacy
Fruggy is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the app's features or the services it uses change. The effective date at the top shows the latest version.
